Operating at a true grassroots level and fully engaged with the local community through the partnership members, the Group has successfully obtained funding under:

Our aim is to secure “a diverse and multifunctional landscape harnessed for sustainable economic and community benefits.”

The Group held consultation events in Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Modbury during April 2008 to inform our strategy, for details click:

The strategy developed has a clear focus on building resilience and flexibility in the Area so that:

• people and businesses are well placed to address and adapt to the challenges facing them;

• the area and its communities become more sustainable so that local people can continue living and working in the area;

• it remains an area of outstanding natural beauty where communities are protective of their natural heritage;

• businesses are innovative and competitive at home and abroad, providing well-paid jobs, skills and leadership and an economy where

businesses can thrive.

The four strategic aims of our Local Development Strategy are:

• linking and adapting businesses for improved economic performance;

• sustaining communities through community enterprise and linked service provision;

• marketing and sustaining the area’s unique selling points;

• building the capacity to deliver rural development locally.
